A Bit Rorty – Ferrari 330 GTC #11333

Today’s featured right hand drive 4 litre / 244 cui V12 powered Ferrari 330 GTC was built in 1968.

It appears to have been with the current owner for nearly 35 years, the only interior non 1968 factory spec item the owner has fitted to this car is a 12 Volt outlet which he describes as more ‘necessary today than it would have been in 1968’.

Amazingly the owner has the original two sets of three keys with ivory coloured plastic covers over the heads and the Pininfarina ‘PF’ logo moulded in to them.

Soon after he bought the car the present owner had Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Ansa Chrome exhaust tips fitted which gave the engine a concomitant ‘quiet purr’.

Some years later when the car was being resprayed the bodyshop left the car outside for two or three weeks in wet weather causing the Ansa tips to corrode. The exhaust pipes and tips were replaced with stainless steel items that have lasted for 30 years, but they sound ‘a bit rorty’.

Spellbinding Grigio Notte – Ferrari 330 GT

Today’s featured Ferrari 330GT was delivered to it’s first owner in Switzerland in 1964, 14 years later it went to an Italian owner where it remained unused until 2012.

Spellbound Cars of Farnham brought the car to the UK in 2012 and restored the body, repainting it in the original Grigio Notte, refurbished the leather interior with the correct Connolly Vaumol leather and mechanically recommissioned it with their in house craftsman.

Spellbound cars coincidentally operate from the same site as the former Ferrari Importer Tourist Trophy, owned by the Hawthorn Family, operated from.

Amaranto P/W and A/C – Ferrari 330 GT #7023

Today’s featured Ferrari 330 GT, chassis #7023 was built in 1965 and sent to Luigi Chinetti Motors, Inc.

The car was originally painted Amaranto, Dark Red and came fitted with power window’s and air conditioning.

It would appear a Norman H. Silver of North Carolina traded in his exisiting 330GT chassis #6509, which is listed as the 400th of the 814 330 GT’s built and no more than six months older than chassis #7029, along with his 810 Cord convertible in order to relieve Luigi Chinetti of today’s car and become it’s first keeper at the end of August 1965.

18 months later Mr Silver traded #7023 back with Chinetti in exchange for a 1951 Ferrari 212 Export and a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Cabriolet.

In November 2007 #7023 was reportedly withdrawn from an e-bay auction with the highest bidding price being US$60,000.

Hong Kong based financier Anthony Moody bought the car in February 2011 and kept it in the UK.

Mr Moody is seen competing in #7023 in these photo’s which were taken at the Castle Combe check point on the 2011 Tour Britania.

Paul Barber subsequently bought the car in January 2012 for a smidgen over US$ 180,000.

Mr Barber had the car painted silver and by April 2013 it had changed hands again having been offered for sale since June 2012.

The current owner of, #7023 the 527th 330GT to be built, is unknown, but the car is believed to be in the UK.

It Is Frank’s – Ferrari 275 GTB/4 #10785

Today’s blog is the last in the current series featuring the 275 GTB model.

Official records show this car was built in 1968 indicating it is a 275 GTB/4 with the 300hp 4 cam 6 carb motor.

Official records also tell us that this car was first registered in the UK on the 3rd December 2004.

Thanks to Mark Shannon at Ferrari Chat I now know this car chassis #10785 was bought by former Nottingham BMW Alpina dealer and 1988 British Touring Car Champion Frank Sytner in October 2003 for over US$ 300,000.

#10785 seen in these photographs at Silverstone Classic was originally delivered to US Agent Chinetti motors in 1967, but by 1980 had found it’s way to Arnold & Werner Meier in Meilen Switzerland where it remained until Frank acquired it.

200 Odd Ones Out – Ferrari 275 GTS

Of the Ferrari 275 family including the GTB, GTB/C, GTB/4, GTB/4 NART, the GTS is the odd one out because it has a completely different sharper Pininfarina styled body to it’s siblings.

Underneath the bonnet / hood is the same 3,286 cc / 200 cui V-12 engine block as it’s sibling 275’s with 2 cams and 3 carbs to produce 260 hp.

The chassis, independent front and rear suspension and hydraulically actuated front and rear disc brakes are also all of the same spec as it’s more rounded siblings.

Introduced in 1964 to replace the 250 GT Series 2 Cabriolet a production run of 200 275 GTS models was built up until 1966, when it was replaced by the short run of 10 rounded style 275 GTB/4 NART Spyders and more permanently by the 4 litre / 244 cui 330 GTS.

A 275 GTS similar to the 1966 model seen here sold at RM Auctions last year for just short of 1.5 million dollars.

3 Carb or Hy-Kers ? – Ferrari 275 GTB #06931

Today’s featured 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB chassis #06931 has had a quiet life.

It was sold originally to an owner in the UK known only by the name of Garrett.

In 1982 this car passed into the ownership of Heinz Hueve in Germany who kept it until October 2013.

#06931 was then acquired by restoration experts DK Engineering on behalf of it’s now third owner.

It is sobering to think that should a 50 year old standard 3 carburetor short nose 275 GTB such as this one come up for auction it would probably cost not much more or less than a brand new Hy-Kers LaFerrari.

Six Carb Option – Ferrari 275 GTB #07597

Today’s featured Ferrari 275 GTB chassis #07597 was delivered to Maranello Concessionaires, GB in 1965.

This right drive car was delivered with the 6 x 40 Weber DCN/3 carburetor option fitted to the motor which produces around 280 hp, six carburetors were only fitted as standard to the later 300hp 4 cam 275 GTB/4.

Like the 275 GTB I looked at last week this one is fitted with a short nose body built by Scaglietti

The history I have been able to find on this car, seen at last years VSCC Spring Start meeting at Silverstone, beyond the delivery details are brief, in 1980 it is believed to have belonged to someone known only as “Bridges” in the UK.

#07597 was also seen at the Brooklands Auto Italia International Weekend, in July 1996.
